The distance runners have certain goals their trying to reach individually and as a team. Devin has his own personal goals he's trying to reach, but he's very team oriented as well.

The guys are going to be excited about it. I told them to listen to the announcements or pick up a copy of the paper if they wanted to know how they did. I think we showed a lot of strength. There's some things I'm not pleased about. The 4-by-100-meter relay needs to get their act together.

I'm pleased with the team's effort. We turned in more positives than we did negatives. I had said on a good day if we did everything right we'd be at the top, and that's exactly what we did. The only thing that hurt us was the lack of depth.

I knew Orange was strong in some areas and I knew that would play into our strengths because they basically have nobody running the 800-meters and above. Two forces met today. They were better in some areas, but we are a little better team.

Their performance in the triple jump surprised me. We had practiced that event only one day. But those guys are students of the events they compete in. They were learning as they were jumping.
